EL-DAUT
Copyright
Literary, artistic and scientific works — including software.
Subject to originality, copyright protects literary, artistic and scientific works: software, music, corporate films, fine art, photographs, applied arts. In Cameroon, Act No. 2000/011 of 19 December 2000 applies; Annex VII of the Bangui Agreement sets a regional floor. Protection arises on creation: authorship still has to be proved, and rights assigned when work is commissioned.
Who it is for
Artists, producers, publishers, developers, and companies commissioning a logo or a website.
Typical path
- Qualify the subject-matter: what can be protected, and in what form.
- Search prior rights (identical, then similar).
- Prepare and file the application, pay the fees, follow examination.
- Maintain the title, watch the Gazette, enforce if it is attacked.
